Amparo Sandino, born in 1963 in Bogotá, Colombia, is a singer, guitarist, and composer. She began her musical journey at age eight, developing an interest in singing and playing the guitar. Sandino initially pursued a career in music pedagogy before being invited to join Carlos Vives' band, La Provincia, in 1993. Sandino's solo career included the release of the album Punto de partida (1996), featuring a mix of merengue, bolero, and pop rhythms. Notable tracks include "Mar de amores" and a duet with Gipsy Kings on "Báilame". Her subsequent releases include El año del gato (1999) and "Asà es mi gente" (2000).
