Amos Garrett, born November 26, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American-Canadian blues and blues-rock guitarist. Raised in Toronto and Montreal, he began playing guitar at age fourteen. His first professional gig was accompanying Mike Settle at Carnegie Hall in 1963. He joined Ian & Sylvia in 1968 and later became a founding member of Great Speckled Bird. In 1970, Garrett moved to Woodstock, New York, and performed with Maria Muldaur's band. His guitar solo on "Midnight at the Oasis" reached number 6 on the Billboard chart in June 1974. He released his first solo album Go Cat Go in 1980. Notable albums include I Make My Home In My Shoes (1989), Third Man In (1992), and Acoustic Album (2004). Garrett has recorded with over 150 artists, including Stevie Wonder, Emmylou Harris, and Bonnie Raitt.
