Amistades Peligrosas, a Spanish musical duo formed in 1989 by Cristina del Valle and Alberto Comesaña, originated in Vigo where the pair met on 17 June 1989 during a TVG program. Both musicians were already active in Madridâs music scene before coâcreating the group, which quickly gained attention with the single "Estoy por ti" that reached national charts and was used in advertising campaigns for TVE and CocaâCola. The duoâs debut studio album Relatos de una Intriga (1991) sold 300â¯000 copies in Spain and established them as a prominent act in the worldbeat genre. Subsequent releases-La Ãltima Tentación (1993), La ProfecÃa (1996), and Nueva Era (1997)-expanded their repertoire to include social and political themes, with singles such as "Me haces tanto bien" and "Nada que perder" achieving international airplay and earning gold certifications in several Latin American countries. After a brief disbandment in 2005, the duo reconvened in 2010, producing El Arte de Amar (2013) with Manu Garzón, and later Pacto de Sal (2019) with Marcos RodrÃguez, which combined pop, technoâpop, and world influences. In 2020, they released the digital album El Regreso, and a reunion tour followed in 2021. The groupâs catalog includes the compilation Grandes Ãxitos (1998), and their work continues to influence contemporary Spanish music.
