Biography

Américo Young is a Uruguayan singer-songwriter associated with the country’s plena/tropical scene, first known as the lead voice of Los Negroni before stepping out on his own in 2018. In 2019 he launched his solo run on Montevideo Music Group with early singles like “Desakato” and “La Noche Es Hoy,” then expanded his reach that same year with “Desakato 2.0,” a collaboration credited to Américo Young and El Polaco featuring Martín Piña. He followed with 2020 singles such as “Mira” and “Esa Morena,” then kept the momentum going into 2022 with the live EP En Vivo. In 2023, Américo Young leaned into punchy, dancefloor-ready songwriting on singles including “Calidad,” “El Merengue,” and “Estamos Bien,” alongside the live set Américo Young (En Vivo). His 2024 run added “Mírame” and “Hay Un Dios,” before 2025 brought his full-length SESSIONS 32 and the album Yo Se Bien Quien Soy, as well as the high-profile feature “Carnaval” with La Nueva Escuela. In 2026 he continued releasing new material with singles like “Loco” (with La Dosis) and “Mala Mujer.”
