Denis Gonzalo ElÃas TrÃas, known as Denis ElÃas, is a Uruguayan plena singer from the Cerro neighborhood of Montevideo, born on April 17, 1981, and introduced to music as a child singing with his godfatherâs guitar. He took his first professional steps in the late 1990s as a vocalist with legendary plena orchestra Karibe con K, debuting onstage with them at 18 in 1998, and later joined tropical group La Revancha. In the mid-2000s Denis ElÃas left La Revancha to start a solo career, quickly scoring local hits with âCorazón heridoâ and âEres tan bella,â songs that became early calling cards in his live sets and later reappeared on compilations. He released his debut studio album El PrÃncipe in 2010 through Montevideo Music Group, establishing himself nationally with tracks like âHoras VacÃas,â âSe Muere el Amorâ and the bonus track âQue Te Aguante Ãl,â which grew into one of his signature songs. Over the next decade, he consolidated his catalog with the live collection Grandes Ãxitos en Vivo (2015) and the studio album Mi Modo de Amar (2018), which yielded fan favorites such as âDijiste Adiós,â âMi Modo de Amarâ and the reissued single âHoras VacÃas,â while standalone releases like âRazón,â âTe Fui Queriendoâ and âDesde Que Te VÃâ kept him active on tropical playlists. In the 2020s, Denis ElÃas refreshed key songs in live form on the album En Vivo Teatro Movie and returned to âQue Te Aguante Ãlâ with a 2023 studio single. He then partnered with Uruguayan label One Play for the crossover singles âNo Te Creo,â âEl Tratoâ with Mariano Bermúdez, and âLa Bachata en Plena,â followed in 2025 by âNo Te Creo (En Vivo)â and âAme,â while Montevideo Music Group summarized his catalog that year with the anthology 20 Grandes Ãxitos.
