Biography

The Amazing Crowns, originally The Royal Crowns, formed in Providence, Rhode Island in April 1993 with vocalist Jason "King" Kendall, bassist Jack "the Swinger" Hanlon, guitarist Johnny Maguire, and drummer Tina. Their debut show was on April 15, 1994, opening for Dick Dale. After several lineup changes, Judd Williams joined as the permanent drummer in 1997. The band changed their name to Amazing Royal Crowns due to confusion with booking agents and won the 1997 WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble in Boston. They released their self-titled debut album The Amazing Royal Crowns on Kingdom Records. In 1998, guitarist Johnny Maguire left the band, leading to a name change to The Amazing Crowns and the addition of J.D. Burgess on guitar. Their follow-up album Royal, produced by Joe Gittleman, was released in June 2000 under Time Bomb Records.
