Amaury Gutiérrez was born on 9 September 1963 in Santa Clara, Cuba, and emerged as a singer whose repertoire blends Latin pop and mainstream pop. He began formal musical training at the School of Art Instructors in Santa Clara at age 15, later graduating from the National School of Arts with studies in choir, piano, guitar and percussion, which laid the groundwork for his compositional approach of music first, then lyrics. After completing a threeâyear social service in central Cuba, he moved to Mexico in 1993, where he signed with Universal Music and released his selfâtitled debut Amaury Gutiérrez in 1999; the album earned a Latin Grammy nomination, a gold disc in Colombia, and sold over 600â¯000 copies. In 2000 he followed with Piedras y Flores, produced by Kike Santander, and in 2001 released Alma Nueva. The 2005 single "Vuèlveme A Querer" entered the Latin charts, and the 2006 album Pedazos de Mi was recorded in New York and Miami. In 2010 he issued the EP Sesiones Ãntimas: Amaury Gutiérrez and the single "Vuèlveme A Querer" (reâissued). Throughout his career, Gutiérrez toured extensively across Europe, South America, and the United States, solidifying his presence in the Latin pop scene.
