Biography
Born in Aix-en-Provence, France in 1974, Amandine Beyer is an acclaimed violinist who specializes in baroque music. She is also known as the founder and musical director of baroque music ensemble Gli Incogniti. Amandine Beyer began studying the violin at the age of four, taking lessons from a local conservatory. She enrolled at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris (France) and was honored with a first prize in 1994. The following year, she continued studying baroque violin under Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum of Basel (Switzerland), graduating five years later. During this time, she performed with Banchiniâs Ensemble 415 plus other ensembles including La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Le Concert Français, Les Cornets Noirs, the Accademia Montis Regalis and l'Assemblé des Honnestes Curieux, who won Italyâs Bonporti de Revereto Prize in 1998. Beginning in 2000, Amandine Beyer has performed as a soloist around the world, performing in many concert halls and festivals with several ensembles including Café Zimmermann and Stylus Phantasticus. She won the Antonio Vivaldi Prize in Turin, Italy in 2001 and recorded several albums including Bach: Sonatas Pour Violin Et Pianoforte (2005). In 2006, she formed the baroque music ensemble Gli Incogniti and recorded albums such as Bach: Concerti a Violino Certato (2007), Vivaldi: Les Quatre Saisons & Autres Concertos (2008), Matteis: False Consonances of Melancholy / Ayres for the Violin ( 2009), Vivaldi: Nuova Stagione (2012), Corelli: The Complete Concerti Grossi (2013), Vivaldi: Teatro alla Moda (2015), Pachelbel: Un Orage d'Avril (2016), Bach: BWV... or Not ? (2017), Haydn: Concerti Per Estherházy (2018), C.P.E. Bach: Beyond the Limits â Complete String Symphonies (2021) and Vivaldi: Il Mondo al Rovescio â Concerti con Molti Stromenti (2022). Amandine Beyerâs 2012 recording of J.S. Bach: Sonates & Partitas BWV1001- 1006 (2012) was a highly lauded critical success and earned her several honors and awards around the world. She also teaches violin and, in 2010, replaced her former teacher Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.
