Amadou Kiénou, born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, was a Burkinabé dancer and musician. From a young age, he was immersed in music due to his family's background as griots of Dafing origin. Kiénou began his musical career as the first soloist of the Ensemble Instrumental du Burkina Faso in 1986. He later joined the company Wamde de Moussognouma Kouyate in 1988 and the Ensemble artistique de Désiré Bonogo in 1989, where he became a principal percussionist.
Kiénou's notable works include Aya Fo (1999), SYA: Rythmes de la tradition du Burkina Faso (2004), Taabali (2006). He also composed music for contemporary dance productions under the direction of Lassane Congo between 1992 and 1994. In 1995, he formed Amadou Kiénou et l'Ensemble Fôteban with family members. Throughout his career, Kiénou collaborated extensively with choreographer Salia Sanou on various projects.
