Christopher Brent Wood, born Septemberâ¯19â¯1995 in Columbia, Maryland, is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer who performs under the name Brentâ¯Faiyaz. He began producing at twelve, selling beats to peers, and released his first EP Black Child in 2013. His breakthrough came with the 2016 single "Crew" with GoldLink, which peaked at numberâ¯45 on the Billboard Hotâ¯100 and earned an RIAA octupleâplatinum certification. In 2017 he issued his debut studio album Sonderâ¯Son, followed by the EP Fuckâ¯theâ¯World in 2020, which reached numberâ¯20 on the Billboard 200. The 2022 album Wasteland debuted at numberâ¯2 on the same chart and produced singles such as "Gravity" (featuring DJâ¯Dahi and Tyler,â¯theâ¯Creator), "Wastingâ¯Time" (featuring Drake and Theâ¯Neptunes), and "Priceâ¯ofâ¯Fame". In 2023 he released the mixtape Largerâ¯thanâ¯Life, which entered the Billboard 200 at numberâ¯11. In Februaryâ¯2026 he released Icon, his third studio album, after founding the independent label ISOâ¯Supremacy in 2023. His work has earned Grammy nominations and American Music Award and BET Award nods, marking him as a consistent presence in contemporary R&B.
