Biography

Born on 3 July 1993 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canadian singer and rapper Jahron “PartyNextDoor” Brathwaite first rose to prominence after his early material was picked up by a plethora of specialist R&B blogs. Soon thereafter, he earned a coveted spot as the first signing to Drake’s OVO Sound label in 2013, and his first self-titled mixtape subsequently went to number 17 on Billboard's Top R&B Albums Chart in 2013, with his debut album, PartyNextDoor Two (2014) topping the R&B and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and spawning the double platinum Drake collaboration “Recognize”. After teaming up with the Torontonian superstar twice more on his internationally chart-topping 2016 album Views and penning Rihanna’s smash hit “Work”, Brathwaite released a third eponymous effort, PartyNextDoor 3 (P3), which reached number eleven on the UK Albums Chart, marking a new career high. Amidst working on a succession of moderately successful EPs including two in 2017, Colours 2 and Seven Days, he featured on a number of high-profile hits including Major Lazer’s “Run Up”, Calvin Harris’s “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” and Kanye West’s “Ghost Town”, while also collaborating with the likes of Jeremih, Lil Wayne and Zayn and co-writing DJ Khaled’s global success “Wild Thoughts”. Letting anticipation build for his next LP, he found himself the subject of frequent Internet memes, with fans growing increasingly impatient with the lengthy wait for new solo material. Their prayers were answered in December 2019, when he returned with a pair of singles and announced his third studio album, Partymobile. It arrived in March 2020, entering the US charts at #8 and spawning the hit Rihanna collaboration “Believe It”. He concluded the year with the surprise drop Partypack, a new EP of previously unreleased material including the sought-after 2014 fan favourite “Persian Rugs”. He returned in 2024 with his fourth studio album PartyNextDoor 4 (or P4, for short), which was notable for forgoing guests while featuring production from 40, Cardiak, and OG Parker, among others. He released a collaborative album with Drake, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U on February 14, 2025
