Born Alison Elizabeth Margaret Goldfrapp on 13 May 1966 in Enfield, London, the electro-pop artist Alison Goldfrapp rose to fame as one half of illustrious electronic duo Goldfrapp (with synthesist Will Gregory), amassing five Top 10 UK albums, two Ivor Novello Awards, and four Grammy nominations along with a host of other accolades. The group's era-defining debut album Felt Mountain, released in 2000 by Mute Records, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2001 and the band released their seventh studio album, Silver Eye, in 2017. In September 2021, Goldfrapp were awarded the Ivor Novello inspiration award, which celebrates "peer recognition for the excellence of Goldfrapp songwriting catalogue and in particular how it has inspired the creative talent of other creators". Alison Goldfrapp's own musical journey began in 1994 when she was featured on the Orbital album Snivilisation, also recording the songs "The Good" and "The Bad" with Dreadzone. She also appeared on Tricky's 1995 song "Pumpkin." After crossing paths with Will Gregory in 1999, Goldfrapp came into being and the pair went on to release seven albums over a 17-year period, beginning with their debut in 2000. Having already branched out into film soundtrack workâscoring the films My Summer of Love (2004) and Nowhere Boy (2009)âin 2023, Alison Goldfrapp revealed her new status as a solo artist, turning her attention to disco and Italo disco for her debut solo album The Love Invention, which reached number 6 on the UK Albums charts and was followed in 2024 by the companion remix album The Love Reinvention. She launched her own record label A.G. Records with single "I Wanna Be Loved (Just a Little Better)" as first release. In 2025, after a collaboration with Purple Disco Machine on "Dream Machine", Alison Goldfrapp released "Find Xanadu", later remixed by Röyksopp, and other singles "Reverberotic", "Sound & Light", and "Hey Hi Hello", as part of the sophomore album Flux.
