Australian singer-songwriter Alison Barter, known professionally as Ali Barter, was born in Melbourne. She began her musical journey with classical vocal training and spent eight years singing in the Australian Girls Choir. In her mid-twenties, Barter transitioned to pop rock, releasing her debut EP Trip in August 2012. This marked a significant breakthrough when she won the 2013 Triple J Unearthed competition, earning a spot at St Jerome's Laneway Festival and support slots for artists like Vance Joy and Cloud Control. Barter continued to release EPs, including Community (November 7th, 2014) and AB EP (September 4th, 2015). Her debut album A Suitable Girl was released in 2017.
