Alfredo Linares, born on January 27, 1944, in Barrios Altos, Lima, Peru, was a pianist and composer. He started his musical education at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música at age ten, influenced by Cuban musicians like PeruchÃn and Bebo Valdés. Linares' first recording was "A la Calle 13" with Sonora Antillana and Ãiko Estrada in 1965. He gained prominence with boogaloo productions El Pito (1968) and Yo Traigo Boogaloo (1969). His international breakthrough came at the Festival Panamericano in Colombia in 1970, performing alongside acts like La Sonora Matancera. Linares released several influential albums, including Mi Nuevo Ritmo (1974) and "Salsaâ¦A Todo Sabor" (1972). Throughout his career, he collaborated with various artists and orchestras, solidifying his status as a key figure in Peruvian music.
