Born May 30, 1992 in West Hartford, Connecticut, Angela Tarantino is an award-winning jazz saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer and educator who was dubbed a âone-woman wrecking crewâ by jazz icon Wynton Marsalis. Tarantino holds a masterâs degree in Jazz Studies from The Juilliard School and bachelorâs degrees in Jazz Saxophone Performance and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music. She is a graduate of Hall High Schoolâs award-winning music program in West Hartford, Connecticut. During her career, sheâs performed and/or recorded with the Colossus Large Ensemble, The Diva Jazz Orchestra, Lauren Sevian, The Verve Jazz Ensemble, Chris Teal, and others. She released Crossing Paths, a collaboration with co-leader Dariusz Terefenko, in 2015. She followed that up four years later with 2019âs Winds of Change, her first album as a leader. She released Clarity, her second album as a leader, in 2020. Tarantino is the founder and director of the Rockport Jazz Workshop in Rockport, Massachusetts and co-founder of A Step Ahead Jazz virtual workshop with pianist Steven Feifke.
