Biography

The name Alek et Les Japonaises is misleading, since this electro-pop group with a singular, offbeat universe is in fact a simple duo, made up of Alexandre Boff and Maï Ogawa. Although the Belgian flag flies on their mast, Maï Ogawa is originally from Japan, where this classical pianist and composer arrived in 2002, packing her bags in Belgium and never taking them off again. In 2008, this on-stage and off-stage couple officially came together and decided to entertain audiences with a singular musical style, drawing on pop, Brazilian music and electro, all validated on stage by jubilant choreography. In 2009, they released their debut album Cuillère, followed by a second in 2010 called Ojamashimasu before releasing KOKEKOKKO (コケコッコー) in 2013. In the years that followed, Alek and Les Japonaises continued to deploy their original universe on stage.
