Biography

Supercharge, a rock group from Liverpool, United Kingdom, was founded in 1974 by Albert Edward Donnelly (Albie Donnelly), a tenor-saxophonist and vocalist, and David Geddes Irving (Dave Irving), a drummer. The band gained early traction at local venues like the Sportsman and Dove and Olive. Their first album, Between Music and Madness, was released in 1974. In 1976, Supercharge signed with Virgin Records and achieved their first significant hit with the single "You've Gotta Get Up and Dance" (1976), which peaked at number 3 in Australia. The band became known for their live performances. Their European success began in the late 1970s with albums like Now Jump (1980) and King Size (1982). In 1984, Supercharge '84, a collaboration with Liverpool band Juke, resulted in notable performances including Jet-Set and Tina Onassis' wedding. The band toured Germany in 2022.
