Biography

Alberto Rafael Bustillos Alamilla, known as Alberto Ángel "El Cuervo," and born on September 1, 1950, in Nanchital, Veracruz, Mexico, was a singer, poet, painter, and musicologist. He began his musical journey by joining the Coro de Niños Cantores in Minatitlán and later became a member of the prestigious Coro de Niños Cantores de México. His career took off in 1971 when he won first place at the Festival Nacional e Internacional de la Música Popular. In 1972, his song "Yo No Voy a la Guerra" was disqualified from the OTI Festival but opened doors to radio and television appearances. Alberto Ángel studied opera singing at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música and released over 120 albums. His achievements include the Premio María Greverand being named the ambassador of Mexican music in Europe by European critics in 1985. He passed away on October 23, 2023.
