Alberta Adams was an American blues singer born as Roberta Louise Osborn on 26 July 1917 in Indianapolis. Raised in Detroit, she achieved professional recognition in the 1930s as a tap dancer and nightclub singer. She served as a vocalist at the B&C club for five years and signed with Chess Records in the 1950s. Adams performed and toured with artists including Duke Ellington, Louis Jordan, and T-Bone Walker. Her recording career includes the debut solo studio recording Born with the Blues (1999) and the track âSay Baby Sayâ (1999), released through Cannonball Records. She issued the studio recording I'm on the Move (2004) and the extended play Detroit's Queen of the Blues (2006). At age 91, she recorded the studio recording Detroit Is My Home (2008) with Ann Rabson and Thornetta Davis. Adams died on 25 December 2014.
