Pekka Johannes Järvinen, known professionally as Albert Jarvinen, and born on October 25, 1950, in Iitti, Finland, was a rock and blues guitarist. He began playing acoustic guitar at the age of eight and later studied classical guitar under Ivan Putilin. In 1965, he bought his first electric guitar and started performing with various bands, including Harp and Poison. Jarvinen's breakthrough came in May 1972 when he joined Hurriganes as their lead guitarist. He left the band to play with Rock-Jerry but returned to Hurriganes in 1979. During his career, Jarvinen collaborated with notable artists such as Elvis Costello and Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead. His solo albums include Ride On (1974), Braindamage â or Still Alive (1988), and Mirror Tower (1991). Jarvinen died on March 24, 1991, during a concert tour in London.
