Biography
A lanky, model-like singer, Ala.ni is the great-niece of a former English music hall star, Leslie Hutchinson. A singer, the Granada-born Londoner supports performances by Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli or Blur, and released her debut track "Suddenly" at the end of 2014, accompanied by a video she directed herself. Her retro vocal style, inherited from jazz and musical comedy, is accompanied by touches of guitar and piano, which she also plays. In 2015, stage appearances in London and Paris followed, and, through Damon Albarn, the recording of a debut EP You & I (Spring), followed by three more at a seasonal pace. The track "Cherry Blossom " found its way into radio playlists, and France Inter invited him to take part in the Disquaire Day and Fête de la musique concerts. The album You & I , released in January 2016, recapitulates the content of her first four EPs.
