Biography

Agrotóxico are a Brazilian hardcore punk band from São Paulo formed in 1993. The founding lineup consisted of vocalist and bassist Mauro, guitarist Marcos, and drummer Edu. After performing in the Cidade Ademar neighborhood, Edu departed to form a metal ensemble and was replaced by Silvio Lombrigão, while Jeferson joined as a bassist. They established the festival Som de Rua and performed in unconventional venues such as squats and abandoned factories. They released their debut studio album, Caos 1998 (1998), through the label Red Star Recordings, which featured guest vocals by Fabio Sampaio. They achieved professional recognition for the track “Marcas da Revolta” (2001), which received airplay on Brazilian radio and television. Their recording career includes the studio albums Estado de Guerra Civil (2001), Libertação (2007), and XX (2013). They toured extensively in Europe and Brazil, performing alongside groups such as The Varukers and Rasta Knast, with whom they released the split recording Marcas da Revolta (2003). They followed these with the studio recording Era do Caos (2023).
