Adesh Samaroo, a Trinidadian chutney soca singer from Tacarigua, central Trinidad, rose to local prominence in late 2002 with his debut single "Rum Till I Die" from the album Rum Till I Die. His second release, "Caroni Close Down", addressed the closure of the local sugar cane company Caroni (1975) Ltd. Following the success of his third single, "Rajin Jheem Jheem Joom", Samaroo began performing internationally. In 2004, he won the National Chutney Monarch and performed with Indian artist Kanchan. That year, he also secured six awards at the 103 FM Music Awards. His subsequent albums include The Return and Rum Cause Dis Success. In April 2005, Samaroo was involved in a severe automobile accident but returned to performing seven months later with the concert 'The Return Of Adesh, Thanks For Life'.
