Biography

Maria Adelaide Mengas Matafome Ferreira, known professionally as Adelaide Ferreira, born on September 23, 1959, in Minde, Portugal, is a Portuguese singer. Her music debut came with the single "Meu Amor Vamos Conversar os Dois" (1978), followed by "Espero por Ti/Alegria Em Flor" (1980) and "Baby Suicida/A Tua Noite" (1981), which became a significant hit. Ferreira won the interpretation prize at the Festival da Canção with "Quero-Te, Choro-te, Odeio-Te, Adoro-te" (1984) and won the festival to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Penso em Ti, Eu Sei/Vem No Meu Sonho" (1985). Her first album, Entre Um Coco e Um Adeus (1986), was released following this success. She collaborated with notable figures like Luís Jardim and Tozé Brito, releasing albums such as Amantes Imortais/Fast And Far (1989), Só Baladas (1998), and Mais Forte que a Paixão (2006). Ferreira received the Prémios da Lusofonia in 2017.
