Biography

Aaron Kwok, born Kwo Fu-shing in Hong Kong on October 26, 1965, is one of the most popular Cantopop stars of his generation, garnering a huge fanbase due to his skills as a singer, dancer, and actor. He learned to dance as a teenager while taking classes at the television station TVB and parlayed his success in that discipline into acting gigs. His recording career began in 1990 with Loving You Never Stop, which was recorded in Mandarin, as were his next two albums. His single “Loving You Forever” became a smash thanks to an accompanying video that showed off Kwok’s Michael Jackson-esque dance style. He made his Cantonese language debut in 1992 with the album Dancing Never Stop, Loving Never Stop, Singing Never Stop. He released a steady stream of albums and singles, remaining a fashion and dance trendsetter for the next decade. Kwok then conquered the film world with back-to-back wins for Best Leading Actor at the 2005 and 2006 Golden Horse Awards for his work in the movies Divergence and After This Our Exile. While his recording output slowed significantly after 2010, Kwok did garner the Best Actor honor at the 2016 Hong Kong Film Awards for Port of Call.
