A Ragamuffin Band was a musical group founded in 1993 by Rich Mullins, who gathered friends from other bands to back him on his album A Liturgy, A Legacy, & A Ragamuffin Band. The band derived its name from Brennan Manning's book The Ragamuffin Gospel, and continued to record and tour with Mullins until his death in 1997. Notable releases include Brother's Keeper (1995) and The Jesus Record (1998). In 2000, the band released their final album, Prayers of a Ragamuffin, which included tracks such as "Make Me an Instrument" and "Nothing You Don't Know." The group reunited in February 2019 to perform The Jesus Record in its entirety, raising funds for member Rick Elias, who had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Elias passed away two months later on April 2, 2019.
