Biography

A Naifa, a Portuguese avant-garde fado and pop band, formed in 2004 following renewed interest in fado and the death of guitarist Carlos Paredes. They included members from various bands, such as Luís Varatojo from Peste & Sida and João Aguardela from Sitiados. Their debut album Canções Subterrâneas (2004) was released to the public. Their unique blend of trip-hop, pop music, and traditional fado garnered attention within Portugal's music scene. The second album, 3 Minutos Antes de a Maré Encher (2006), briefly entered the Portuguese sales charts at number 29. After Aguardela's death in 2009, they disbanded temporarily before reforming in 2010 with new members including Samuel Palitos and Sandra Baptista. They released the album Não se deitam comigo corações obedientes (2012), dedicated to Aguardela. They disbanded permanently in 2014. Other notable releases include the albums Uma Inocente Inclinação para o Mal (2008) and As canções d'A Naifa (2013).
