4 United was a German pop music group formed in 2004, consisting of Daniel Küblböck, Gracia Baur, Nektarios Bamiatzis, and Stephanie Brauckmeyer. The project was initiated by music producer David Brandes to create a charity single featuring contestants from the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar. The group's debut and only release was "Don't Close Your Eyes", recorded to support Ãrzte ohne Grenzen. Released on November 22, 2004, the single entered the German charts two weeks later, peaking at Number 18 and remaining in the top 100 for nine weeks. In Austria, it reached Number 50 and stayed in the charts for six weeks. The formation of 4 United capitalized on the popularity of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, with members selected from the show's contestants. "Don't Close Your Eyes" was both a musical endeavor and a philanthropic initiative, with 0.50 Euros from each CD sale going to Ãrzte ohne Grenzen. The single's chart success highlighted the group's ability to connect with audiences through their heartfelt performance. Despite its brief existence, 4 United left a notable mark on the German pop scene during the holiday season of 2004.
