Biography

4 Promille is a German punk band formed in 1997 by vocalist and guitarist Volker Grüner. The project began as a solo effort, with Grüner releasing CDs independently between 1995 and 1997 before expanding to a full lineup. The first collective release, the Die Jungs von nebenan EP, appeared in 1997 and was reissued by Knock Out Records in 1999. Other notable albums include Im nächsten Leben (1999), followed by Und ab… (2001) and Alte Schule (2006). 4 Promille announced their breakup in 2007 and played a farewell concert in Leipzig. In 2012, the group re‑formed without Grüner, with Martin Beyer taking his place, and released Vinyl in 2014, which entered the German charts at number 64. Subsequent releases include the EP Reset (2016) and Zeitgeist (2024).
