Zubot and Dawson were a Canadian folk duo from Vancouver, British Columbia, consisting of Jesse Zubot on fiddle and Steve Dawson on guitar. They began their musical journey as part of the Spirit Merchants, which later evolved into a duo with an acoustic focus. In 1998, they released their debut album Strang. Their second album, Tractor Parts: Further Adventures in Strang, was nominated for a Juno Award in 2001. The duo's final album, Chicken Scratch (2002), won the 2003 Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year for a Group. Throughout their career, they toured extensively across North America and Europe. The group disbanded as Dawson shifted his focus to production work and Zubot explored other musical genres.
