Biography

The Shuffle Demons is a Canadian jazz fusion band from Toronto, formed in 1984 by saxophonist Richard Underhill. The group initially performed as buskers before releasing their debut full-length album, Streetniks, in 1986. The album included the single "Spadina Bus", which was a Top 40 hit in Canada, and was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Jazz Album in 1987. Over the next seven years, they released four more albums: Bop Rap (1988), What Do You Want? (1990), Alive in Europe (1992), and Extra Crispy (1993). The band disbanded in 1997 but reformed in 2004, releasing Greatest Hits that same year. Their subsequent albums include Clusterfunk (2012), Crazy Time (2020), All In (2022), and Are You Really Real (2025).
