Biography

Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Nika Roza Danilova aka Zola Jesus wanted to be a singer. After ten years of training, she abandoned this dream to devote herself to recording dark, experimental electro pieces played on second-hand synthesizers. In 2008, her debut EP and album The Spoils triggered hysteria among bloggers across the Atlantic. For the following album, Stridulum II (2009), the New Musical Express called it a "dark masterpiece". The phenomenon spreads internationally with the release of Conatus in September 2011. Its sequel Versions, released in 2013, and a long tour precede Taiga (2014), produced with his accomplice Dean Hurley.
