YMCK, a Japanese chiptune band formed in May 2003, consists of Midori Kurihara on vocals, Takeshi Yokemura on music, lyrics, and arrangement, and Tomoyuki Nakamura on composition and music videos. The group's name is derived from the CMYK subtractive color model. YMCK released their debut album Family Music in 2004 and performed internationally at Microdisko in Stockholm. Their second album, Family Racing, followed in 2005, introducing Yokemura's Magical 8bit Plug synthesizer. In 2008, YMCK signed with Avex Trax and released Family Genesis, their first album available on a digital music marketplace in the United States. Subsequent releases include Family Cooking (2009), Family Days (2013), and Family Swing (2017).
