Yasmine Modestine is a French actress, singer-songwriter, and playwright. She began composing and singing at a young age, playing guitar and piano before pursuing both theater and music professionally. In the 1990s, she started performing her songs in jazz clubs across Paris and other regions of France. Modestine's first album, A-Live! (2010), was recorded live with classical musicians in March 2010. Her second album, Out of the Blue, also released in 2010, featured collaborations with notable jazz musicians including Rémi Toulon and Ãmile Biayenda. She has notably been vocal about discrimination in the entertainment industry, particularly regarding voice casting for actors of color.
