Biography

Raised in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York, Diana Gordon wrote her first song at 15 years old, laying the brickwork for a career that would later include multi-platinum collaborations as a behind-the-scenes songwriter as well as multiple releases an an acclaimed R&B solo artist. Adopting the stage name "Wynter Gordon," she began working with producer D'Mile in 2004. Her song "Gonna Breakthrough" was recorded the following year by Mary J. Blige, who released it on her triple-platinum album The Breakthrough. Wynter Gordon continued writing songs for other artists as the decade progressed, composing two tracks for Danity Kane's Number 1 record Welcome To The Dollhouse in 2008 and penning "Toyfriend" for David Guetta's Grammy-winning One Love in 2009. That same year, she also appeared as a guest artist on Flo Rida's "Sugar," which peaked at Number 5 in the US and cracked the Top 40 in 15 countries. After releasing The First Dance, her debut EP as a solo artist, in 2010, she rose to fame with her 2011 debut album, With The Music I Die. "Dirty Talk," the album's most popular single, topped the dance charts in Australia and the US, while also becoming a Top 40 hit in Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Scotland, and the UK. Two additional tracks from the same album, "'Til Death" and "Buy My Love," also became Top 5 hits on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Meanwhile, Wynter Gordon collaborated with Jennifer Lopez's 2011 album, Love?, and continued releasing solo EPs like 2012's Human Condition: Doleo, 2013's Sanguine, and 2015's Five Needle. She began releasing material under her birth name of Diana Gordon in 2016, retaining the name for all future records. That same year, she appeared as a co-writer and co-producer on Beyoncé's Lemonade, which earned Diana Gordon her first Grammy nomination. Her solo career then continued with 2018's Pure and 2020's Wasted Youth.
