Biography
Woods of Ypres was a Canadian doom metal band formed in Windsor, Ontario, in 2002 by David Gold and Aaron Palmer. Their debut release, the demo album Against The Seasons: Cold Winter Songs from the Dead Summer Heat, came out later that year. In 2004, they released their first studio album, Pursuit of the Sun & Allure of the Earth. Woods of Ypres continued with Woods III: Deepest Roots and Darkest Blues (2007) and Woods 4: The Green Album (2011). Tragically, Gold died in a car accident on December 21, 2011. Despite this, the band's album, Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light, was released in 2012 and won the Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year in 2013.
