Biography

Wolfgang Gottlieb Anheisser, born on December 1, 1929, in Cologne, Germany, was a baritone and opera singer. He received his first vocal training from his mother, Margot Gripekoven, an operatic singer. After completing his high school education, he attended the Freiburg Music Academy. Anheisser's professional debut came in 1961 as Nardo in La finta giardiniera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He performed at various German opera houses before becoming a prominent figure at the Berlin State Opera, from 1968 onwards. His notable roles included Figaro in Der Barbier von Sevilla. Tragically, Anheisser died on January 5, 1974, following an accident during a performance of Der Bettelstudent at the Cologne Opera. He was 44 years old.
