Winnebago Deal was formed in Oxford, United Kingdom, in the late 1990s by Ben Perrier (vocals, guitar) and Ben Thomas (drums); the duo emerged after the departure of early members and quickly developed a sound compared to Queens of the Stone Age. Their breakthrough came with the Plata O Plomo EP in 2003, which earned a nomination for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! awards that same year. The band signed to Double Dragon Music and released the debut album Dead Gone on 27â¯Septemberâ¯2004, produced by Jack Endino; the record received positive reviews from Drowned in Sound. Subsequent releases included Flight of the Raven on 10â¯Julyâ¯2006 and the single "Spider Bite" on 17â¯Julyâ¯2006. Throughout their career, Winnebago Deal toured with Mondo Generator, supported Fugazi at London's Forum, and maintained a presence on the UK alternative rock scene, charting at number 85 for the track "Cobra" in 2004. The band continued to produce music into the 2010s, with later releases such as Career Suicide in 2010, but did not achieve significant commercial breakthrough.
