Biography

Windows, a German-British pop duo consisting of Jeanette McKinley and Peter Petrel, formed in 1972. The band's breakthrough came with their debut single "How Do You Do", released in English in 1971. The song gained significant traction when the Dutch duo Mouth & MacNeal covered it, reaching number 5 on the German charts. Windows' German version of "How Do You Do" entered the German Hitparade in February 1972 and held the top position for eight weeks. Following this success, Windows released several other notable singles including "Tell Me Baby" (1972), "Alright, Okay, I Love You" (1973), and "Hast du keine anderen Sorgen?" (1973). Their debut album Meet the Windows was released in 1972. The duo's unique blend of pop music and pop rock resonated with audiences, leading to further chart successes. In 1974, they released additional singles such as "One and One Is One" and "Hand in Hand", which continued to solidify their presence in the German music scene. Despite their early success, Windows disbanded later that year. Petrel then pursued other musical projects. In the mid-2000s, Petrel reformed Windows with Tina Wulf, releasing several CDs including Meet the Windows (Complete Works) and performing live. This reunion brought renewed interest to the duo's music. Notable posthumous releases include How Do You Do – Die deutschen Hits, published on September 15, 2010.
