Willie E. Henderson Jr., known professionally as Willie Henderson, was born on August 9, 1941, in Pensacola, Florida, and is an American musician specializing in soul music. He moved to Chicago with his family at a young age and began playing the baritone saxophone, performing with local artists such as Otis Rush and Syl Johnson. In the late 1960s, he worked as an R&B arranger for Brunswick Records, collaborating with producers like Carl Davis on arrangements for notable musicians including Chi-Lites and Tyrone Davis. His first significant release was "Funky Chicken (Part I)" in 1970, which peaked at number 22 on the R&B chart. Willie Henderson released several singles and two albums on Brunswick Records, including Dance With Willie Henderson "The Master" in 1974. He left Brunswick to work independently as a producer, forming Now Sound Records and producing artists like Essence for Epic Records. In the 1980s, he produced funk band Magnum Force's album "Share My Love". Willie Henderson continued to perform and produce music into the 2010s, including being part of the horn section at the 2016 Chicago Blues Festival tribute to Otis Rush.
