Biography
Wilfried Scheutz was born on 24â¯Juneâ¯1950 in Goisern, Upper Austria, and became a singer and songwriter. After early schooling in Badâ¯Goisern and Gmunden, he formed his first band, Theâ¯Provos, at fourteen and later studied in Graz. He began his professional music career as a bassist with Moses and sang on "Sad Song" / "Mexican Dessert" with Hideâ¯&â¯Seek. Scheutz began a solo career under the name Wilfried, releasing his eponymous debut album in 1974. He followed this with Nights in the City (1979) and Make-up (1980), which reached number 19 on the Austrian Top 40. He also founded the a capella agroup 4Xang and the jazz formation FathersânâSons, and appeared in the television series Dieâ¯Leuteâ¯vonâ¯St.â¯Benedikt. Scheutz died on 16â¯Julyâ¯2017 in Lilienfeld, Lower Austria. In 2018, he was posthumously honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Amadeus Awards.
