Biography
Los Tres Reyes was a Mexican trio formed in October 1958 by brothers Gilberto Puente (requinto, second voice) and Raúl Puente (guitar, third voice), together with lead vocalist Hernando Avilés, formerly of Trio Los Panchos. The combination of Avilés's established reputation and the Puente brothers' musicianship helped the trio achieve widespread popularity throughout Latin America. After the group disbanded in 1966, it reunited in 1991 with a succession of new lead singers following Avilés's death in 1986. Their last lead vocalist was Bebo Cárdenas. In January 2019, Los Tres Reyes officially retired from performing due to the advancing age of its founding members. With the brothers' approval, Cárdenas subsequently formed La Ãltima Voz de Los Tres Reyes y su TrÃo to preserve the ensemble's musical legacy, while Raúl Puente continued performing occasionally and Gilberto Puente retired from music. Their discography includes albums like Ãxitos (1959), Recuerdos Borincanos (1959), El Retorno de Los Tres Reyes (2001), and Romancing the Past (2011).
