Villagers of Ioannina City, a Greek folk rock band from Ioánina, was formed in 2007. Their music blended elements of experimental, stoner, and psychedelic rock with traditional Greek folk music from the Epiro region, characterized by poliphony, specific rhythms and melodies, and instruments like the clarinet and bagpipe. Villagers of Ioannina City's breakthrough came with their debut full-length album Riza, released in 2014, which received critical acclaim both locally and internationally. The band has performed at major rock festivals and sold-out shows across Greece, as well as European tours that included stops in Berlin, London, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. Their subsequent releases include the EP Zvara/Karakolia (2014) and the albums Age of Aquarius (2019) and Through Space and Time (Alive in Athens 2020) (2021).
