Vaults was a British electronic music group formed in London in 2013 by vocalist Blythe Pepino, guitarist Barney Freeman, and producer Ben Vella. The trio released their debut track "Cry No More" on SoundCloud in 2013, which amassed 100,000 plays in its first week, establishing an early following. In 2014 they issued the single "Premonitions" and the EP Vultures, and were signed by Virgin EMI, after which they released the majorâlabel single "Lifespan" and the followâup EP Vultures. The group toured extensively in 2014, appearing at Lovebox, T in the Park, and Reading and Leeds festivals. In 2015 they released "One Last Night" and "Cry No More" (reâissue), and the EP Cry No More (31â¯Julyâ¯2015). A 2016 collaboration saw Pepino feature on Gorgon Cityâs "All Four Walls", while the single "Midnight River" was named Single of the Week by The Guardian. The band provided the soundtrack for the 2016 Johnâ¯Lewis Christmas advert with a cover of Randy Crawfordâs "One Day Iâll Fly Away". Vaults announced their split on 25â¯Mayâ¯2017, citing a loss of creative spark. Their final album, Caught In Still Life, was released 2â¯Decemberâ¯2016 before the group disbanded.
