Donald Mason, known as Vakill, was born on March 21, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois. He began his involvement with hip-hop at age eight, initially focusing on breakdancing before transitioning to rapping in the '80s. In 1991, he met Ed Zamudio (later known as Panik) and together they formed the Molemen production team with producers Memo and PNS. Vakill's first release was a cassette titled Who's Afraid? in 1995. He remained active on the local scene throughout the late '90s, collaborating with artists like Percee P and Rhymefest. Vakill released his debut album, The Darkest Cloud, in 2003, featuring production from Molemen members Panik and Memo. His subsequent albums include Worst Fears Confirmed (2006) and Armor of God (2011), both of which featured collaborations with lyricists such as Ras Kass and Royce Da 5'9".
