Biography
The United States Army Field Band, established in 1946 by Lieutenant General Jacob L. Devers, is a touring musical organization based at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Initially named The Army Ground Forces Band, it was formed to maintain the link between the U.S. Army and the American public. In 1950, it was renamed the United States Army Field Band. Notable performances include appearances at The Kennedy Center Honors and state funerals of Presidents Reagan and Ford. In 2011, they released The Legacy Of John P. Paynter. Their 2020 album, Soundtrack of the American Soldier, won Best Immersive Audio Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. The band has performed in all 50 U.S. states and 25 countries, leading the first element of the Presidential Inaugural Parade every four years.
