Twisted Tower Dire are an American heavy metal ensemble from Chantilly, Virginia, formed in 1995. The ensemble was established by members influenced by groups including Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording The Curse of Twisted Tower (1999), released through the label Metal Supremacy. They performed at festivals including Wacken Open Air in 2000 and 2003 and the Keep It True festival (2002). They achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Crest of the Martyrs (2003), which was produced by Piet Sielck and the ensemble. The recording was ranked among the top 20 power metal albums of all time by Terrorizer magazine. Vocalist Tony Taylor departed the ensemble in 2006 and was replaced by Johnny Aune. Taylor died in 2010. Their discography includes the studio recordings The Isle of Hydra (2001), Netherworlds (2007), Make It Dark (2011), and Wars in the Unknown (2019). They released the split recording Knights of True Metal (2023) with Cauldron Born.
