Twenty88 was formed in 2016 by American rapper Bigâ¯Sean and R&B singerâsongwriter Jhenéâ¯Aiko, both already established on the U.S. music scene. The duo announced their partnership in late March 2016, announcing a joint venture with Defâ¯Jam Recordings, GOOD Music, and ARTium Recordings. Their debut studio album, TWENTY88, was released on Aprilâ¯1â¯2016; it peaked at number five on the Billboardâ¯200 and topped the Billboard Digital Albums, Top R&B/HipâHop Albums, Rap Albums, and R&B Albums charts. The album included the singles "Selfish" and "On the Way", and featured guest appearances from KâCiâ¯&â¯JoJo and producer Detail. Production credits included Keyâ¯Wane, Detail, Tommyâ¯Brown, Camâ¯O'bi, and others, blending 1990s R&B, 1970s experimental rock, and contemporary trap elements. The project remains a collaboration that bridged hipâhop and R&B in the midâ2010s.
