Tru Tones, a Saint Lucian band led by Ronald "Boo" Hinkson, formed in the 1960s with members primarily consisting of his brothers and friends. The group gained significant popularity in the Caribbean during the 1970s and also had a following in the United Kingdom. Their breakthrough came with the singles "You Sexy Thing" (1975), a remake of Hot Chocolate's hit song, and "Burning Eyes and Hungry Bellies" (1980). The band also notably performed at the Super Bowl XIII halftime show in 1979. Tru Tones released several albums including Show the World (1974), The Leaders (1977), and Power Struggle (1980) before disbanding in 1980. Following the breakup, Hinkson pursued a successful solo career and continued to tour globally.
