Biography
Transs was an Indonesian jazz fusion band formed in Jakarta on 6 June 1980. The band was established by Fariz RM after he served as a judge for a high school competition, selecting musicians from various competing acts. The lineup included Fariz RM on vocals and keyboards, bassist Erwin Gutawa, drummer Uce Haryono, keyboardists Jundi Karyadi and Eddy Harris, flautist Hafil Perdanakusumah, percussionist Wibi AK, vocalist Dhandung SSS, and backup singer Wiwiek Lismani. In 1981, the group released its only studio album, Hotel San Vicente, under Akurama Records. This release influenced later acts like Karimata and Krakatau. Rolling Stone Indonesia ranked the record at number 35 on its 2007 list of the best Indonesian albums. Additionally, the band contributed to the 1981 compilation Tembang Remaja 1981. Transs disbanded in 1981.
